I loved Christmas crackers when I was little. I especially loved the crack ? sound they made which I unfortunately could not recreate because selling those little explosives is illegal in America now (??) But they scan ell the crackers already made with the explosive band inside them…?.
Too bad, I’ll have to fill them only with small surprises (even just confetti). Traditionally they also contained a crown and a joke! I chose to put glass charms that my guests can use that night on their glass and then take home!
Supplies (nicely gifted by Perles & co)
- Colored paper (gold here & graphics here) (There are 2 thicknesses in these packs, I used the thinner ones)
- scissors + exacto knife
- start punch
- ribbon (black satin, yarn, & baker’s twine)
- pattern found here
1-Start by downloading the pattern and print it on the back of your paper of your chosen paper. You could even create your own patterns (I made a grid one, of course available here)
2-I first started with an exacto knife and I had a really hard time cutting the diamonds out. It’s much easier to fold and cut triangles with your scissors!
3- Cut the outline then and use your exacto for the slits.
4- Follow the dotted lines to fold, roll and insert the tabs in the slits.
Before rolling up make sure you insert your little surprises inside! I punched some stars in my scrap paper and added the glass charms (tutorial here)
5- Once filled, attach a piece of ribbon to each end
