MY ideal summer outfit… romper shorts, hat and rosé
I bought this Marc Jacobs romper last year in australia. I LOVE it and wear it all the time but I thought I could make myself a similar one!
I had this piece of fabric hanging around so I decided to use and and I’m not disappointed.
Supplies
- a piece of fabric (about 2m by 1,60m)
- sewing machine
- needle for fine fabric
- thread
- elastic (2cm) about 1,5m
- a pair of nicely fitting shorts you own to trace the pattern from
I’d made shorts before so I did it without a tutorial but this video is pretty clear
Start by making your pair of shorts
1- Trace the pair you have (front and back) on your folded fabric (to have each piece twice).
2- Assemble each pair of the same piece (good side against good side) sewing the rounded part.
3- You’ll end up with two pieces like this. Assemble them by sewing together the sides
4- One last stitch to assemble the middle part (sewing as one long stitch)
5- Hem the bottom of the legs. And one big hem at the top to fit the elastic through (and sew in place)
Then make the top
I wated to make a top and sew it to the shorts but with the fabric I had left I could make a dress (and I didn’t really know how to assemble them anyways!). So 2 pieces 3 ways to wear!
To make the dress I simple foled the piece in half. (the measures are approximate it hjust has to be long enough for you and about 20 cm more than your bust size)
Like for the bandeau dress, Hem the top to fit the elastic (and sew in place once inserted). hem the bottom.
Then just slip the dress on and tuck into the shorts!)
