I made this bikini pouch for my best friend’s birthday and loved it so much I made one for myself too!! The chic black one for her and the gold bling one for me (also I was out of black sequins)
It’s super useful I used it a lot during my vacation in the south of France so I didn’t get all our stuff wet after a refreshing swim in the Cassis Calenques
To make your own bikini poutch
- thick cotton (leftover thick cotton from my lemon towel)
- plastic-y fabric for the inside (a shower curtain could do the trick, I found my fabric in a thrift store)
- zipper (30 cm)
- sequin ribbon (black or gold)
- glue gun+ glue
1- Start by cutting 2 pieces of each fabric (34 cm x 18 cm rectangles)
2- Then pin them to your zipper (leave it a bit open for later)
I always use this tutorial to pin my pieces correctly. You basically make a sandwich around each side of the zip (yes this is very clear). At the end both your fabrics have to be folded onto themselves.
3- Once everything is figured out, pin in place and sew each side of the zip (not too close so the fabric doesn’t get stuck when you open your pouch)
4- Then place your fabric rectablges back to back and sew all around, even on the zipper just be careful on the sipper pull side to be right where it starts. Leave an opening in your inside piece to be able to flip your pouch (and an opening in your zipper)
5- Flip it around and sew the inside opening closed
6 – Practice writing the word “bikini” with your sequins and just like for this hat hot glue gun it little by little.
p.s. The lace bikini is also DIY
[…] steps are very similar as the ones for my bikini pouch but with a curved zippper (which is optionnal). I suggest you look at those steps first as they are […]
