Turn a men’s shirt into a DIY bandeau dress

DIY robe chemise (5 of 29)

The men’s shirt transformation obsession continues (and it’s far from over!). This time it’s suuuper simple, a bandeau dress. It’s a biiiitttt on the short side so I wear it with mini shorts underneath. I wore it a ton over the holidays by the pool, on the beach and even on hikes… to the beach.

I have more ideas I want to try and do before the end of the summer (what a horrible thought)

Let’s start with this one shall we?

You need and XXL men’s shirt (the bigger the better) and and elastic. Cut the shirt as high as possible (so right under the collar) and remove the sleeves so you end up with this:

With your sewing machine, sew a light inverted V shape from the top to the bottom corner of the shirt

Then hem the top to pull an elastic through (10 cm shorter than where you want to wear the dress). Leave a gap, insert elastic and close the gap (I closed and then sewed over each side of the elastic to hold it in place)

That’s it!

p.s. that hat is also DIY
