It’s kind of a thing on instagram, these brick stitch miyuki bead charms, but I always wonder what these girls do with them… I know some turn them into brooches but that’s not really my thing.
So I decided to turn mine into glass charms! I’m glad I made something (pretty) useful out of them.
I didn’t make a weaving tutorial because there’s already tons on the internet
Supplies:
- Miyuki beads size 11/0
colors used:- watermelon: green, metallic pink, black, cream mat
- pineapple : copper, blue, yellowish green
- orange : orange, cream mat
- grapefruit : pink, pearl
- strwaberry : metallic pink , pearl, gold
- kiwi : copper, pearl , black, yellowish green
- white thread (I ised regular sewing thread, I was they have a spacial “miyuki thread”… not sure what it’s worth)
- needles (beading needles or i used regular ones)
- jump rings
- copper wire
- cutting pliers
- round pliers
Here’s a basic technique video
These are the patterns I used (the little arrow shows you what row to start at)
For the pineapple I used a free pattern found here! And the strawberry was very inspired by this one
The easiets :watermelon, kiwi, pineapple/orange!
Once you’ve got all the fruits (so cute!)
Insert your ring in one of the beads
Cut a piece of copper wire about 1,5 cm and wrap around something round to create a ring shape
Fold the ends over with your pliers
Repeat for all your fruits and voila, you’ve got summer fruits glass charms!
