I’ve always loved easter egg wrappers (not as much as the eggs themselves but close). I even recently found an old notebook from when I was 12 (called the “mucho personnal book”) where I covered one page with wrappers that I spent hours flattening out with my thumb nail (someone else did that?). But this tear I finally found something useful to make with them… DIY gold leaf earrings !
I made my beloved air dry clay (like my coasters and jewelry holder)
The recipe is super easy
- 2 parts baking soda
- 1 part corn flour
- 1 1/2 parts cold water
1. Measure baking soda and flour | 2. Mix | 3. Add water and heat | 4. mix continuously, it wil make bubbles.. it’s almost ready! | 5. Keep mixing until it forms a dough | 6. Let it cool down before using.
Once you have your clay you’ll need:
- your wrappers
- varnish (I tried with nail polish… doesn’t work it faded the gold)
- brush
- des clous d’oreilles
- glue
Make little discs of air dry clay (equal in size) and let them dry a few hours.Rip a little piece of Easter egg wrapper and apply varnish to your clay disc. Drop your piece of wrapper and apply varnish on top.
Let it dry and glue to your studs.
Voilà!
