“Invite the nature”…was the theme for the french project projetDIY. I had this idea of transforming nespresso cups for months… good thing I saved it!
Especially with this petition going around against single use pods informing us that in 2012 27 billions cup we’re already overflowing in landfills and that a phenomenal quantity of water is required to recycle them.
But I have to admit… these capsules are so pretty in all their different metallic shades… so i wanted to give thema second life… a bit longer than the first….
I looked for tiny succulents and cacti but couldn’t find anything small enough.. and then i found these at a florist (in gatineau québec). They are tiny “air plants” that only need love and fresh air to live.. literally! no soil and only a spray of water every week!
Material:
- recycled Nespresso cups
- 7 wood sticks (I used sushi sticks)
- tiny air plants
- glue (I used a glue gun)
- string
- embroidery needle
- scissors
1- Start par cutting the tops of your capsules
2- Empty and clean them and slide your finger around (softly) to fold any little uneven pieces.
3-Pull your piece of string through the needle and pierce one side of the capsule from the bottom towards the top
4-Pierce goind the other way on the opposite side. Tie double knots on each side.
5- Start by gluing 2 sticks to make an “X” shape then add a third the create a tripod. Make 2.
6 – Rest a last stick on both tripods and slide your planters on it.
